Choo-Kien Kua was born in 1980 and raised in Calgary Alberta. From a young age he started drawing.

As a teenager he continued to draw and started to play music. This lead to experiences playing in various bands that recorded and toured albums. His experiences with music lead to a strong independent work ethic and the ability to approach projects with a do it yourself mentality.

He is also drawn to science and technology, earning his diploma as a telecommunications technologist in 2000 and later working as an electronic technician and telecommunications technologist. He has experimented with photography, drawing and painting and became interested in extreme realism, expression and abstraction. The majority of influences he took came from his interests in politics, reality, activism and humanity.

In 2007 he moved to Vancouver British Columbia to attend Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design to further his artistic experience.
